New Delhi : Members of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) Wednesday expressed shock and disbelief over the CBI special court’s ordering the trial of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar for the May 16, 2008 killing of their teenaged daughter Aarushi.
A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad also ordered the dentist couple’s prosecution for destruction of evidence.
“The evidence that the central investigative agency has gathered against Rajesh Talwar is unscientific. Just because the Talwars were in the house on the night of the murder, it can’t be said that they killed their daughter or destroyed evidence at the spot,” Anoop Kanse, secretary of the Indian Dental Association, told IANS.
“The evidence has to be concrete and not just circumstantial to accuse the parents of their own daughter’s murder,” added Kanse, who has practiced dentistry with Rajesh Talwar.
Aarushi, a Class 9 student of Delhi Public School, Noida, was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her parents’ Jalvayu Vihar Apartment in Noida on May 16, 2008.
Their domestic help Hemraj was initially suspected of the killing, but his body was found on the flat’s terrace a day later.
Members of the IDA have been staging protests against the charges framed against the Talwar couple.
“After conducting narco-analysis and forensic tests, the CBI failed to find the Talwars guilty. Then why and how now? It’s just a cover-up to a shoddy investigation,” said Vineet Bansal, a member of the IDA.
“The father has been scarred for life for killing his own daughter. Rather than finding the real culprits, the case has entirely become a one-sided battle against the parents,” said Kanse.
