Pakistan: main pipeline supplying gas to Balochistan blown up

Quetta : A main pipeline supplying natural gas to Balochistan was blown up between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Deputy Chief Manager Media Relations Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) Inayatullah Ismail told APP on Thursday that unidentified men blew up 18-inch diameter high pressure pipeline between Jacobabad and Jhat Pat some 18 kilometers upstream from Jacobabad.

He said that emergency teams from SSGCL Shikarpur Office had been dispatched to the affected site to inspect and repair the damaged pipeline.

The pipeline was carrying about 145 mmcfd gas to Quetta for onward transmission to the entire province.

Replying to a question, he said repairing work of the damaged pipeline might take two days.

He, therefore, requested the consumers to reduce their consumption and turn off their geyzers and heaters with immediate effect till the supply to normal.
