Compensate Muslim youths as Dr Hanif was by Australia: Jamiat

By TCN News,

New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind today demanded immediate release of innocent Muslim youths who were falsely implicated in terror cases and put behind bars, and fair compensation to them as Australia did with Dr Muhammad Hanif. Our country, which follows the West in immoral things, should follow it in the matter of justice and human rights also, said India’s largest Muslim organization.

In view of Swami Aseemanad’s confession to several terror blasts in the country, there remains no viable reason to continue detention of those belonging to the minority community implicated in the same cases, said Jamiat Ulama-I-Hid General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Maulana Mahmood Madani.

Raising finger at the existing system of investigations, the JUH General Secretary questioned, “What is justice for those youths being held endlessly thereby jeopardizing their life and career and what is punishment for those officials who deliberately implicated them on false ground?” In each of the cases Muslims youths and outfits were blamed before the serious investigation could take off in the right earnest. It is now clear that there is an element of bias by the probing agencies in targeting a particular community. Such elements have entered every governmental department. That must be probed and dealt with harshly, said Madani.

JUH leader demanded fair compensation for those innocents languishing in jails in terror cases, taking cue from Australia in the case of Dr. Haneef. “His (Dr. Haneef) case fits to be followed in delivering justice. Our country feels pride in following the west even in immoral things, then why not in the matter of justice and human rights,” Maulana Madani asked.

Jamiat leader, who had spearheaded inward-looking anti-terrorism campaigns of Muslim clerics when scores of Muslim youths were being picked up after each terror blast couple of years back, expressed deep concern at the emergence of new face of terrorist groups belonging to majority community. “Current state of affairs created serious apprehensions and needed to be dealt with wisely,” Madani said and feared that this might widen the gape between the minority and majority communities and move away the nation from the path of development if not dealt with in proper manner.

Madani asserted that his organization has opposed linking of terrorism with any religion since such move while attracting help of members of the concerned community caused to weaken struggle of rooting out the menace. Madani said that terrorism must not be recognized with name of any religion. “We should refrain from branding it Muslim terrorism and Hindu terrorism. In all forms it is a threat to our existence and we should unanimously fight it rising above party politics,” he urged.
