Secretary, Islamic Centre of India, Maulana Naeemur Rehman in his reaction stated that hurting the religious sentiments of any person cannot be permitted under any circumstances. “We cannot take the alleged desecration of Holy Quran lightly. There should be a thorough probe of the incident. The guilty police officials should be punished and cases should be registered against them,” he said. Rehman also demanded adequate compensation for the injured and their proper rehabilitation.

Imam Tile Wali Masjid, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Waizi also demanded probe in the whole incident. “Muslims are always at the receiving end of the police brutality. Muslims there are not feeling safe and the guilty police officials should be removed. The incident is very unfortunate and cannot be tolerated,” said Waizi.

Former President, Students Union of Nadwatul Ulema, Hafiz Shakeel Ahmed was most vocal in his reaction. “The state government is suppressing the Muslims. The police action and the desecration of Holy Quran reflects that the security forces have no regards for the religious sentiments of Muslims. Strict action should be taken against these police officials. Cases should be registered against them for their deplorable act,” he said.
