New Delhi: Universities and schools in the country should impart the knowledge of special skills and create cadres of well-trained students who will be part of the global human resource, former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said Saturday.
Speaking at the World Education Summit organised by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Kalam said the education system should create two cadres of students to build a global human resource.
“First is the global cadre of skilled youth, spreading knowledge of special skills and the second is the global cadre of youth in higher education with expertise which covers not only the service sector of India but also the skilled human resource globally for employment perfection,” he said.
“These two cadres will not only cover the manufacturing and service sectors in India but will also train the human resources globally,” he added.
Kalam also emphasised upon the moral conduct of students and said that they should know how to take calculated risks, but with righteousness.
“Moral leadership requires capability and disposition to do right things. In all schools and colleges, this is essential for capacity building. All schools should introduce a moral science class in their curriculum,” he said.
Talking about skill development, Kalam said that the education system should aim to create employment generators rather than employment seekers.
He further said that private education was a very creative ingredient and must be fostered.
