New Delhi : Ahead of foreign minister-level talks with Pakistan, India Tuesday said it will continue to hold dialogue with its neighbour to resolve pending issues despite problems between them.
“Even though there are problems with some of our neighbours, we will continue our dialogue process. Our hope is that through dialogue, we will be able to find a solution in the long run,” Defence Minister A.K. Antony told reporters after laying a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti in India Gate.
He was responding to a query if India would like to give any message to Pakistan on the 12th anniversary of its victory over its neighbour in the 1999 Kargil war.
“I don’t want to say anything that will vitiate the atmosphere because on Wednesday there are talks at the external affairs minister level,” Antony said, noting that India followed a policy of friendly relations with all its neighbours.
“We will continue dialogue on one side and on the other side, we will strengthen our national security apparatus,” he said.
Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will hold talks Wednesday when a number of issues such as Jammu and Kashmir, India’s concerns over terror, and steps to enhance people-to-people contacts will come up for discussion.
