Flagging of the ferry service between here and Colombo at the V.O. Chidambaranar port here, Vasan said the government is working on resuming the ferry service between Rameswaram and Thalaimannar.

He said the ferry service between Tuticorin (around 600 km from Chennai) and Colombo was a long pending demand from the people of both countries. The service would benefit people of both the countries and improve cultural and trade ties between the two countries.

He wished well to the passengers and crew of M.V.Scotia Prince, the ship that would ferry the passengers from here to Colombo.

The ship will leave for Colombo on Mondays and Fridays while the return service from Colombo will be on Wednesdays and Sundays.
