Forbesganj police firing: NHRC will investigate the incident

New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today asked its Director General (Investigation) to depute a team for conducting an on the spot inquiry into the firing by police and killing of four persons in village Bhajanpur under Forbesganj block of Araria district in Bihar.

Four persons including a pregnant woman and a six-month-old old child were killed in the police firing. After shooting down the persons, the policemen also kicked one of them with boots crushing him to death finally.

The NHRC took this decision after consideration of complaints filed by several political and non-political personalities and NGOs. Those who met Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC requesting for his intervention in the matter, included Ms. Brinda Karat, MP , Rajya Sabha, Dr. Mohan Lal Panda, a human rights activist, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, National President, Lok Janshakti Party and Ms Shabnam Hashmi of an NGO, ANHAD.
