Badal wrote to the prime minister to use all the diplomatic channels to trace the Punjabi youths who were suspected to be in the west African country of Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

He said that the 40 youths were lured by travel agents and sent to Spain for jobs.

The chief minister said the parents of these youths approached him for help.

Badal said that recent news reports suggested that the youths were in the illegal custody of travel agents in Mauritania.

“The matter of about 40 youths missing from Punjab is quite serious and the state government has already taken all possible legal action in this regard,” Badal said.
