Brussels : Dutch voters Wednesday are voting to elect some 200 members for Netherlandss 12 provincial councils.
Dutch media reported today that the results of the vote will determine the make up of the upper house of the Dutch parliament, or senate.
The latest opinion polls give the coalition government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte 37 out of 75 senate seats. Rutte has appealed to government supporters to go out and vote arguing that it will be very difficult for the coalition to implement some of its policies without the necessary majority.
