“We are demanding that the chief minister should at least listen to the demands of the oppressed majority,” said Srika Sinha from ActionAid Monday.

“We will march to the chief minister’s residence under the leadership of women,” she added.

The protesters, who have staged a sit-in at Bhopal Board Office crossing since Sunday, are demanding right to land, forest and water as their basic entitlement.

Calling the so-called development focus as superficial, the women said as long as violations of their rights continued the talk of growth was meaningless.

The agitators are also challenging dispossession through control over resources and demanding equal opportunities to the excluded communities, food sovereignty for all the excluded communities and democratisation of society, economy and polity at all levels.
