Raising the issue during zero hour, BJP member Ramdas Agarwal said the agitation may intensify if the government fails to address their concerns.

“The agitation by Jats continues to disrupt rail movement. If the government does not address the issue, the protests will intensify,” Agarwal said.

He was joined by several other opposition members who demanded a response from the government.

Hundreds of Jat community members Monday squatted on the tracks and disrupted rail traffic in Haryana demanding reservation in government jobs under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

According to railway officials, protestors have blocked almost all railway lines in Bhiwani, Hisar and Jind districts of Haryana. Many trains had to be either cancelled or diverted by the railway authorities.

According officials, the Northern Railway has either cancelled, diverted or short-terminated 883 trains. Among these, a staggering 320 trains were cancelled, while another 434 had to be diverted. The North Central Railway also cancelled 122 trains till Monday.
