Rebels said there were no attacks by forces loyal to Gaddafi Wednesday, broadcaster Al Arabiya reported. An unknown number of civilians, including children, were reportedly killed and hundreds injured in the last few days of attacks there.

The report came after Al Jazeera quoted an anti-Gaddafi fighter as saying that 14 people had been killed and 23 injured in overnight attacks on Misurata.

The battle for the country’s third largest city, some 210 km east of the capital Tripoli, is seen as pivotal as opposition forces attempt to push on to Tripoli.
