Raising the issue in the state assembly during question hour, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) leader Pradip Yadav said that rules were flouted during renewal of the lease.

The JVM-P and other opposition members trooped into the well of the house, shouting slogans, and forced Speaker C.P. Singh to adjourn the house for half an hour.

However, after the house assembled, opposition members again raised slogans, leading to adjournment till 2 p.m.

The land lease for the Tata Steel plant at Jamshedpur was renewed during Arjun Munda’s regime in 2005. The opposition claims that several rules were violated, and the Tatas were let off without paying a fine.
