Lucknow: The chief of All India United Muslim Morcha (AIUMM), Dr MA Siddiqui on Saturday decried the remarks made by Chairman, National SC/ST Commission and MP PL Punia that the minority status of Jamia Milia Islamia is unconstitutional.
Siddiqui termed Punia’s remarks as anti-Muslims reflecting the dual policies of Congress. “The Congress party is trying to get Muslims votes while Punia is drifting them away by his utterances. His remarks also reflect his BJP mentality while he claims to be secular,” said Siddiqui. He also stated that Punia’s remarks will not fetch Dalit votes to Congress but further alienate Muslim votes.
The AIUMM chief Dr Siddiqui stated that Dalits are already bestowed with SC status since independence but it has not been opposed by any minority community member. However, Dalit Muslims are not included in the SC list which is a clear reflection of anti-Muslim policies adopted by Congress. “The Congress has always been anti-Muslims. In the coming elections we will raise the issue of inclusion of Dalit Muslims in the SC category and according minority institution status to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU),” said Siddiqui.
