Dhaka : Bangladesh’s senior-most judge, Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman resigned Thursday, a day after being superseded for the post of chief justice for the second time.
President Zillur Rahman had Wednesday appointed Justice Mohammed Muzammel Hossain, a senior judge of the Appellate Division, as the 20th chief justice of Bangladesh, The Daily Star reported.
Nayeem Mominur Rahman had been bypassed when the incumbent, Chief Justice A.B.M. Khairul Haque was appointed to the top judicial post last year.
Haque will retire May 17 and will be succeeded by Hossain, who will retire Jan 16, 2015.
