Man held with 3.5 kg hashish

Mumbai : A man has been arrested with 3.5 kg hashish which was meant to be delivered to a German national in Goa, an official said here Friday. The foreigner too has been held.

Following specific intelligence inputs, the Mumbai and Goa units of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) kept Hotel Renuka Palace in Sawantwadi, in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, under surveillance .

It raided a room in the hotel May 3 and recovered 11 packets containing 3.5 kg hashish, concealed in the false bottom of a trolley bag belonging to Krishna Singh.

During interrogation, Singh revealed that the consignment was meant for delivery to a German national, identified as Goose, at Goa’s Mackey Market, an NCB officer said.

A team of officers swooped on Mackey Market May 4 and caught Goose, who revealed his real name as Ralf Diersmann.

The NCB sleuths also recovered two loudspeaker boxes in which Diersmann planned to hide the consignment and deliver to other customers in Goa.

Diersmann has reportedly played a small role in a Bollywood movie, but officials declined to comment on it.

The duo was produced before a magistrate in Sawantwadi May 4 and remanded to judicial custody till May 25, the officer said.
