Authorities have hit upon a novel idea to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers who agree to pay higher tariff.

Called “uninterrupted electricity supply tariff”, it would be introduced in industrial zones, an official told Dawn.

The scheme is likely to be made part of the new federal budget.

The official said that currently the power purchase price of Hub Power Company at an average Rs.12 per unit was the highest. It would soon be overtaken by a Turkish rental power plant whose power purchase price would be around Rs.16 per unit.

Industrial consumers purchasing power at higher rates would be guaranteed round-the-clock supply, the media report said.
