Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University has allowed the suspended final year students to appear in the examinations beginning Wednesday (18th May). The decision was taken by Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis on compassionate ground. Many students had been suspended for group clashes on April 30, 2011.

“The suspended final year students will be allowed to appear in their examination beginning from tomorrow pending a detailed enquiry of last month’s group clashes between the students culminating into the sine die closure of the University on April 30, 2011. No innocent student will be victimized and no guilty will be left unpunished,” the VC said.

Regarding the Dharnas in the campus, Prof. Azis said that they are only aggravating and damaging the interest of the students appearing in various examinations. They should remember that the students are back in the campus for their examinations. It is the duty of the teachers and student leaders to create a tranquil atmosphere conducive for studies and examination preparation.

While reviewing the situation in the campus, Prof. Azis said, “I once again appeal to the Teachers’ Association and the President of Students’ Union to withdraw their Dharna forthwith and cooperate in our effort to contain any possible loss to the students”. Keeping in view the career of the students, the University has already declared schedule of final year examinations starting from May 18.

“We are all happy to note that a section of the Students Union has dissociated from the Dharna alleging that the President is carrying it with personal motives. The rest should follow the suit and meaningfully contribute in the well-being of the students by eliminating all irritants that may imperil normalcy and the conducive ambience,” he added.
