“There is no violence in the state. Some of you are creating such things. Some political papers are instigating,” Banerjee told media persons here.

She gave “credit” to the people for the way they have “prevented breach of peace”.

The main opposition Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has alleged that seven of its leaders and workers got killed since the declaration of the assembly election results.

On the large-scale recovery of arms from different parts of the state, Banerjee said: “We had told the central government about it earlier. We had told the previous state regime also for the last two years. But they did not do anything.”

Banerjee called upon the police to work impartially, and asked people not to take the law in their hands.

“If people or any political party stumble upon illegal arms, they should inform the police. Don’t take the law in your hands.”
