New Delhi: The Delhi government’s revenue collection has shown impressive growth, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Wednesday. Revenue collection increased to Rs.16,478 crore during 2010-11 from Rs.13,448 crore in the previous fiscal — a 23 percent increase.
“The increase of 23 percent showcases our concerted efforts in enforcing better tax practices throughout the year,” Dikshit said.
Dikshit, who also holds the finance portfolio, told reporters outside Delhi secretariat that there has been a remarkable addition in the exchequer due to better revenue collection.
“The Delhi government with its sound and prudent economic policies, better tax practices, e-governance, hassle-free tax administration and cordial relations between traders and authorities has achieved a significant increase in its revenue collection,” she said.
Dikshit also informed that tax on vehicles was the highest contributor to revenue collection forming 52.93 percent.
“We will continue to adopt similar measures to bring further improvement in revenue tax collection to enhance public funding and to take up a large number of pro-people projects and policies,” Dikshit added.
