Beijing: A new book on the history of the Communist Party of China has sold one million copies since being published this January, said a statement Thursday.
The sales are the highest among books on the party’s history, Xinhua reported citing the statement from the Party History Research Centre.
The book – focusing on the 1949-1978 period – comes after a first one documented the history from the birth of the party in 1921 to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
The sale has been attributed to the increasing desire among the people to know about the party, especially during this year, the 90th anniversary of its founding.
The first book has sold about 766,000 copies.
