New Delhi: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to “intervene and accept” Baba Ramdev’s demands as the yoga guru has threatened to go on a fast from June 4 over getting back the black money stashed abroad by Indians.

Calling Ramdev the “rock star” of yoga, Gadkari said that government should “procure the list of Indians who have parked their money abroad”.

“Now that the rock star of yoga has decided to take the fight against corruption to the next level by restoring to a fast-unto-death from June 4 and that 10 crore people of this country will be joining him, the BJP can’t remain a silent spectator,” Gadkari wrote in his letter.

“I would earnestly request you to intervene and accept Baba Ramdev’s just and reasonable demands for urgent steps to get the black money back and punish the tainted and make strict anti-graft laws,” he said.

“The government should also procure the list of Indians who have parked their black money abroad and investigate how this money was taken out of country,” he added.

Gadkari also urged the prime minister to invite Ramdev for a “meaningful dialogue” before it is too late.
