AMP organises lecture event on the life history of Maulana Azad

Mumbai: Marking the 123rd birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad; the first education minister of independent India, Mumbai based organization Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) organized a lecture event on the life history and contributions of Maulana Azad on 11th Nov at Khilafat House in Mumbai.

In his lecture, Maulana Mustaqeem Ahsan Azmi, President, Jamiat-ul- Ulema Hind, Maharashtra, threw light on different aspects of Maulana Azad’s life. He highlighted the role of Maulana Azad in freedom struggle and said it was his quality of leadership that made him ‘Imam-ul-Hind’. He pointed out that Maulana Azad entered the national politics and created awareness among the community when Muslim Ulema were in whole against involvement in politics.

Congress MLA and Chairman of Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation, Maharashtra, Amin Patel spoke on the historical personality of Maulana Azad, his significance in the Indian National Congress and his role in freedom of India.

Farid Khan, Governing Council Member, AMP, said that The foundation of IIT and UGC were the steps taken by Maulana Azad as Educational Minister’. And these are the things our country is now well renowned for.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Hasnain Naqvi, Professor of History, St. Xaviers College, said that Maulana Azad faced criticism from two sections of people–the narrow-minded Hindus and the hard-line Muslims– yet he did not stop to work on the theory of one nation.

The lecture on ‘Maulana Azad’ was first among the planned lecture series on shining history of Indian Muslims, by AMP.
