“This government has a leadership crisis, it has lost its credibility. It is the most corrupt government since Independence,” Jaitley, the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, said in his address at the Ramlila ground on the conclusion of party leader L.K. Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra.

“They are now trying hide their corruption and malign the opposition for it. In cash-for-votes (scam), the judiciary and the people ask why the MPs, who were whistle blowers, were arrested,” he said.

Jaitley also questioned why fingers were being pointed at the telecom policy during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime.

“For 11 years, they had no problem with our telecom policy, but the government just wants to blame the opposition because they are guilty,” he said.

The CBI, in an FIR Saturday, alleged irregularities in allocation of additional spectrum during late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s tenure as telecom minister. It claimed that the decision of granting additional spectrum caused a loss of Rs.508 crore to the exchequer between 2001 and 2007.
