Lucknow: Congress yuvraj Rahul Gandhi hinted at another possible equation by praising Samajwadi Party (SP) supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav while lashing out at the Chief Minister (CM) Mayawati during his meetings at Bahraich on Wednesday.
“I learnt about poor’s plight from Mulayam Singh Yadav but it is an irony that he too is drawn towards power. I am approaching people and will continue to do so even if the opponents keep on attacking me,” claimed Rahul during the meeting.
Lashing out at the CM Mayawati, Rahul alleged that she had publicly announced that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) ,which is the flagship programme of UPA-II government, is of no use to poor. “It is ridiculous, the scheme has given maximum benefit to the poor and Mayawati had claimed that it is useless. No wonder, the funds released from centre are siphoned away by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ministers,” he said.
Rahul also cited the multi crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, stating that the corrupt ministers of the state are busy pocketing the funds meant for the people.
Rahul publicly vowed that the wheel of development will move at a fast pace if Congress is voted to power in the state. “Change will be visible within five years and you just vote for Congress for changing the fortune of the state,” he said.
