Jodhpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday filed another status report in the Rajasthan High Court while seeking more time for investigating the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, who allegedly features in a CD with sacked minister Mahipal Maderna.
It was the second status report submitted to the court by the CBI on the probe conducted so far into the case. A status report was earlier submitted Nov 11.
The CBI requested the court to conduct the hearing in a chamber as the agency claimed that the contents of the status report and the arguments could become public.
A division bench of Justice Govind Mathur and Justice N.K. Jain granted the permission to conduct hearing in a closed chamber on a petition filed by Amarchand, husband of Bhanwari Devi.
“The court has fixed Dec 15 as the next date of hearing,” said Additional Advocate General Anand Purohit, who appeared for the state government.
The additional chief judicial magistrate in Jodhpur Sep 24 directed police to include Maderna as an accused and probe his role under penal provisions for rape, murder and criminal conspiracy.
Bhanwari Devi has remained absent from duty since Aug 25. A missing complaint was lodged by her husband Sep 1. The complaint was laterd turned into a kidnapping case.
