Addressing the IYC elected office bearers here Monday, Rahul Gandhi had said “the biggest corruption was in the political system”.

Reacting, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said: “He is right. Every political party should take preventive steps to check corruption.”

He said democratisation of the youth wing by Gandhi “was a challenge to other political parties and non-political groups”.

“The IYC has around 4 lakh elected office bearers in 22 states and has a membership of over one crore, the largest in the country,” said Singhvi.

Singhvi said the IYC convention in Delhi exploded the myth of the disconnect between the youth and the political system.

“The way the IYC increased its membership is a revolution in democracy and transparency,” he said.
