Aligarh: Noted Hindi scholar and former Chairman, Department of Hindi, Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. S. Jafar Raza Zaidi has passed away today at Escorts Hospital, Delhi after cardiac arrest. He took his last breath at the age of 68.
Dr. Zaidi is survived by a son and daughter. He joined the Aligarh Muslim University as Research Assistant in Maulana Azad Library in 1966-67. He was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Hindi on October 7, 1969.
He authored more than one dozen books in Hindi, Urdu and English. While being at AMU, he held several posts such as Coordinator of General Education Centre, Secretary of University Games Committee and Member-in-Charge of Public Relations and University Press. At last he served as the Head of the Department of Hindi of AMU.
