Lucknow : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here Friday suspended sitting legislator Sukhlal after his name figured in the list of Congress candidates for 2012 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, a party official said.
“Sukhlal, who represents Barkheda assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, has been suspended with immediate effect for anti-party activities,” BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak told reporters.
“As his name has been found in the second list of Congress candidates for the assembly elections, BJP’s state unit president Surya Pratap Shahi ordered his suspension. The party has also decided to file a petition before the Vidhan Sabha speaker, seeking disqualification of Sukhlal from the membership of the House,” he added.
Sukhlal’s name figured in the list of the Congress candidates released Thursday, making him its candidate from Puranpur assembly seat in Pilibhit.
