Indian Minister E. Ahamed in Kuwait

Kuwait City : Indian Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed has urged Kuwait and other GCC countries to invest in India which he termed as “the best destination for investment”.

Ahamed, who arrived here Sunday to attend the 10th Asia Cooperation Dialogue being held here Oct 10-11, was speaking at a reception hosted Sunday in his honour by the Indian ambassador here Satish C. Mehta.

Addressing a large number of dignitaries, including prominent Kuwaitis, representatives of the Indian community in Kuwait and other high officials at the reception, Ahamed pointed out that India was “fast growing despite the global economic slowdown”.

The Indian Business Council of Kuwait also hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Indian minister, the Embassy of India, Kuwait, said in a release.

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) is a body created in 2002 to promote Asian cooperation at a continental level and to help integrate separate regional cooperation organisations such as ASEAN, SAARC and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Foreign ministers from 31 Asian nations are attending the meeting in Kuwait. The 10th session of the ACD would seek how to avoid impacts of the sovereign debt crises through close coordination and cooperation.

The foreign ministers at the two-day event would also discuss topics including climate change, environment protection, energy, cultural cooperation, poverty.
