Islamabad : Pakistan plans to import gas and electricity from Iran to overcome the country’s energy shortage, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said.
The gas pipeline project with Iran will help a great deal to meet the country’s energy requirement, he said this to Iran’s ambassador Mashallah Shakeri at his official residence here Wednesday.
The country needs Iranian energy supplies to meet its power shortage, he said, adding Pakistan also plans to import 1,000 megawatt of electricity.
Gilani said sea, rail and road links are vital to realize the full potential of trade between the two countries and beyond, the official APP news agency reported.
