Islamabad : Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday approved the appointment of Yasin Anwar as the new governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the official media reported.
The announcement comes after the finance ministry and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani recommended him for the post, the APP news agency reported quoting a statement from the president’s office.
During a meeting with Gilani Wednesday, Anwar assured him that he would do his best to implement the monitory policy of the State Bank of Pakistan. Gilani asked him to keep him abreast about the state of the economy.
