Ralegan-Siddhi (Maharashtra) : Anna Hazare Friday shifted back to his old residence in this Maharashtra village. The move comes barely two days after he was accorded Z-category security.
Hazare shifted from the Padmavati Temple Complex to the Yadavbaba Temple complex, barely a km away.
In the wake of attack on Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan, the Maharashtra government had ordered a thorough security review for Hazare.
Police officers declined to comment whether the shifting had been effected in view of security considerations.
However, an aide of Hazare said renovation at Padmavati Temple necessitated the move.
“Each year Hazare celebrates Diwali at Yadavbaba Temple where he meets and greets people, distributes sweets and firecrackers,” the aide told IANS.
For years, Hazare had been staying at the Yadavbaba temple. However, ever since his return from Delhi where he campaigned for a strong Lokpal bill, hundreds of people started visiting him daily. So he took up residence at Padmavati Temple.
Besides the temple, the complex also has a few rooms patterned as a dormitory rest house which can accommodate a few staffers and visitors.
In the relatively spacious Padmavati Temple complex, Hazare occupies two rooms – one to receive visitors, and the second to rest.
Located close to the Sarpanch office, the Yadavbaba temple is on the main square of the Ralegan-Siddhi village in Parner sub-district of Ahmednagar district, around 275 km from Mumbai.
