Jakarta : At least four people were killed when a passenger ship with over 400 on board caught fire after colliding with a tugboat in an Indonesian river Monday, Xinhua reported.
The accident occurred in a river in South Kalimantan province of Indonesia, said a rescuer.
Rusli Ansyah, the head of search and rescue office, said the Marina Nusantara ship sailing from Surabaya city, the capital of East Java, toward Barjarmasin city of South Kalimantan collided with a tugboat carrying coal in Barito river of Banjarmasin city.
“Four people were killed,” another rescuer Andi Zainudin said.
There were 443 passengers on the ship, according to the manifest, the document which lists the cargo, passengers and crew, he said.
The evacuation has been completed, the rescuer added.
