BSP MLA joins Peace Party

Lucknow: Peace Party got a shot in its arm when a sitting MLA of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Jitendra Singh Bablu switched loyalties and joined Peace Party on Thursday. A month ago, another legislator Akhilesh Singh from Raibareilly of Akhil Bhartiya Congress Dal (ABCD) had also joined Peace Party.

Losing no time Peace Party also declared him party nominee from Bikapur in Faizabad district for 2012 elections. Meanwhile, BSP which was caught offguard in a face saving exercise suspended Bablu from the party. “We will move a petition before the speaker to disqualify Bablu from the house. He had pleaded a chance for mending his ways but he was still engaged in unlawful activities, thus we had already denied ticket to him,” said State Chief of BSP and cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya in a press release.

Bablu is chargesheeted in the arson and torching of residence of UP Congress Chief Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi. In good times he was enjoying excellent rapport with BSP and moved with Y security.
