Jaipur : At least four persons were killed and 10 others wounded when the car they were travelling in collided with a bus in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district Wednesday morning, police said.
According to police, the mishap took place near Sridungargarh town in the district, some 320 km from Jaipur.
“The bus carrying about 30 passengers and the car in which six members of a family were travelling collided head-on,” a police officer told IANS.
He added that all the four deceased were in the car and have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, Amit Kumar, Usha Devi and Naveen Duggar.
At least two passengers from the car and eight others travelling in the bus also sustained injuries.
Several passengers got stuck in the government-run Rajasthan Roadways bus. “The residents of the nearby villages also joined the rescue operation,” said the officer.
They were rushed to a government hospital in Bikaner. “The condition of at least five of them is critical,” said the officer.
Police said that it has come up during preliminary investigations that the bus had lost control and hit the car. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the bus driver.
