Carrying placards reading “Justice for Richard Loitam”, the students gathered at the Town Hall in the heart of the city to protest against what they alleged as delay in the probe into his death.

Loitam, a second semester student of the Acharya School of Architecture in north Bangalore, was found dead his hostel room on April 18.

Bangalore police have registered a case of suspicious death and say they are awaiting forensic report to continue the probe.

Police say the hostel warden S. Sudhakar filed a report that Loitam and his two hostel mates had fought over watching an IPL match on April 17. During the quarrel, Loitam was hit on the head. He was found dead the next day around 1.30pm.

A group of students have launched a campaign on Facebook seeking ‘justice’ for Loitam and to treat the death as murder.
