CRPF trooper hurt, eight landmines found in Jharkhand

Ranchi : A CRPF trooper was injured Friday in a gun battle with Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand’s Palamau district, police said.

Police recovered eight landmines planted by the Maoists from Talipeti jungle of Palamau district, 170 km from Ranchi, during a search operation. According to police, the landmines were planted to target police vehicles.

The gun battle took place during a search operation in the same area in which one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper sustained bullet injuries in his leg. He has been admitted to a hospital in Ranchi for treatment.

Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
