PFI plan fund collection drive for Assam refugees

New Delhi: Popular Front of India (PFI) plan to do a special drive this Eid to collect funds for people displaced as a result of Assam violence.

PFI National General Secretary K. M. Shareef and National Executive Council members Maulana Usman Baig and O. M. A. Salam have visited the refugee camps on different occasions. Another National Executive Council member Moulana Muhmad Khalid Rashadi is camping in the area to supervise the emergency relief activities. PFI is working with local NGOs to distribute relief.

About 150 PFI volunteers are now engaged in distribution of baby foods, medicines, cloths, tarpaulin sheets, mosquito nets, buckets and mugs, candles etc. as per need utilizing the funds arranged by Popular Front.

Also, A survey about the basic needs was undertaken in 149 refugee camps. The survey team physically visited 149 camps; – 25 camps in Chirang, 10 camps in Chapar, 55 camps in Bilasipara, 7 camps in Bongaigaon, 25 camps in Gauripur, 27 camps in Kokrajhar area and assessed their requirements.

On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr after namaz, Popular Front activists will be making a special relief fund collection drive for Assam refugees. E. M. Abdul Rahiman has requested all Muslims to show solidarity to their less unfortunate brothers and sister on the joyous occasion of Eid.
