New Delhi : Attacking the BJP over its tactic of stalling parliament proceedings, Samajwadi Party leader Mohan Singh Tuesday also took a swipe at the Congress over the stalemate, saying some party leaders may be keen to replace Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with Rahul Gandhi.
“It is possible that some people of the Congress want to replace Manmohan Singh with Yuvraj (Rahul Gandhi). Is internal politics of the Congress not coming into play,” Mohan Singh, an SP member of the Rajya Sabha, told IANS.
He said it is a matter of concern that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wanted to destroy rules of parliamentary conduct.
He said the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report was “interim” as it had not been examined by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“PAC removes inappropriate paragraphs. Then it comes to parliament and then debate (is held),” Singh said.
Criticising the BJP over its demand that prime minister should resign over the CAG report on coal block allocation, he said Manmohan Singh cannot be expected to resign “to oblige the opposition”.
“Do you want to create a vacuum,” Mohan Singh asked.
The BJP has been stalling parliament since last week over its demand for resignation of prime minister.
The Samajwadi Party leader said BJP’s stance was not proper as it was using the CAG report as an excuse to go for elections.
Asked if the SP was with the Congress on its stance that the prime minister would not resign and its readiness for discussion on the CAG report, Mohan Singh said his party did not want to destabilise the government.
