Patna : Twenty-seven Maoists, including several area commanders, surrendered Thursday with their weapons in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, police said.
“A total of 27 Maoists surrendered with weapons and we have promised to provide all assistance to the surrendered Maoists under the Naxal reform package to enable them to join the mainstream,” Additional Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey said.
The arms they surrendered included sophisticated weapons and ammunition, he said.
Earlier this year, 23 Maoists had surrendered with weapons in Muzaffarpur.
As many as 33 of the state’s 38 districts are Maoist-affected.
