Virbhadra Singh to take oath Dec 25

Shimla : Congress veteran Virbhadra Singh will take oath as Himachal Pradesh chief minister here Dec 25, a party leader said Sunday. This will be his sixth term in the post.

“The Congress wants that the process of the government formation is done at the earliest to honour the mandate,” a Congress leader told IANS.

Governor Urmila Singh will administer the oath of office at the Ridge at 10.40 a.m.

Virbhadra Singh has left for Delhi to meet Congress leaders including party president Sonia Gandhi to discuss the formation of the new government.

Virbhadra Singh was formally elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party Saturday night. His name for the top post was later cleared by the Congress leadership.

Senior party leaders, including Anees Ahmed and Birender Chaudhary, met the governor to stake claim for the formation of the government.

The governor Saturday dissolved the state assembly and asked outgoing Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to continue in office till the formation of the next government.
