Shoot down rapists, demands CPI leader

Hyderabad: A top leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) in Andhra Pradesh Monday said those involved in rapes should be shot dead.

CPI state secretary K. Narayana made this demand during a protest against the gang rape incident in Delhi, at Ongole town in Prakasam district.

A state minister demanded that those guilty of rapes should be hanged in public.

Taling to reporters here, Information and Public Relations Minister D.K. Aruna said only this punishment can prevent such heinous crimes against women.

Meanwhile, activists of students and women’s organizations tried to march towards Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, to protest Delhi incident. Police arrested the protesters.

The participants in the protest alleged that the government has failed to check rape and other crimes against women.
