New Delhi : A Delhi court Thursday extended till Jan 10, 2013 the judicial custody of Sukhdev Singh Namdhari and his security officer Sachin Tyagi in the murder of Hardeep Singh, brother of slain liquor baron Ponty Chadha.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sandeep Garg extended by 14 days the judicial custody of Namdhari, Tyagi and eight others after they attended court through a video link.
The crime branch of Delhi police told the judge that the accused were not physically presented before him due to security reasons.
Apart from Namdhari and Tyagi, the court extended the judicial custody of Simranjeet Singh, Jagbir Singh, Bhupender Singh, Uday Raj Singh, Rajpal Singh, Anand Singh Bisht, Mathura Singh Mehra and Satnam Singh.
Namdhari, a witness to the Nov 17 gun battle at a farmhouse in south Delhi in which both the brothers were killed, was booked for Hardeep’s murder.
Sacked as chairman of the Uttarakhand Minorities Commission after the Chadha brothers’ killings, Namdhari was arrested from his farmhouse in the hill state Nov 23.
According to police, Namdhari killed Hardeep Nov 17 at the Delhi farmhouse and the pistol used for the killing was seized.
Tyagi, an Uttarakhand Police constable, was arrested for his alleged role in the conspiracy that led to the murders, a police officer said.
