New Delhi : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Delhi government and a state-run hospital over a Feb 6 incident in which a boy with a bullet lodged in his head was allegedly sent away by doctors after first aid.
“Nakul Bhargava, after the first aid at Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, had to spend an agonizing night before his parents took him to a private hospital the next day where he was operated upon and the bullet was successfully removed,” said an NHRC statement Monday.
The notices were issued to Delhi’s health secretary and Dr. Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan Hospital in east Delhi. They have been asked to file replies within four weeks.
Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report, the commission issued the notices and said that the contents of the report, if true, raised a serious issue of violation of right to health of the child.
