Jammu : At least 10 people were killed Saturday when a vehicle in which they were travelling was smashed by a big boulder and then swept away in a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The 10 passengers were on their way to Srinagar from Jammu, police said.
The vehicle was hit at around 7 a.m. by a boulder at Khooni Nullah in Ramban district on Jammu-Srinagar highway, 165 km north of Jammu. Within minutes, it was swept off by a landslide, killing six people on the spot.
Four passengers who were critically wounded succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to hospital, police said.
The highway has been closed for traffic for the day.
