All India Imams Council not satisfied with Congress step for Muslim quota

New Delhi: Expressing dissatisfaction with the 4.5% minority quota granted by Congress-led UPA government from within the OBC quota of 27%, All India Imams Council has urged the central government of Congress to implement the recommendations of Sachar and Mishra committees which it had formed.

The group made the demand at its National Committee meeting held in New Delhi on Sunday. The meeting discussed various issues related to the community like dropout rate at school level and social issues.



The meeting passed resolution on two issues: 1) The government should legislate strong laws for protection of wakf properties; 2) The government’s decision regarding Muslim reservation is not satisfactory. We demand the government to implement the recommendation of Sachar Committee and Mishra Commission.

The meeting chaired by national president of the council, Maulana Usman Beg Rashadi, was attended by state presidents of the organization from Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
