Liu Yuncai, former vice mayor of Xiangxiang city, sought bribes in cash, property and gadgets and falsified work-related expenses to get subsidies, the Shanghai Daily quoted a court in Xiangtan city as saying.

Liu, 48, was fined 150,000 yuan along with seizure of his illegal assets, a local newspaper reported.

As in-charge of urban construction and utilities supply in the city until he was arrested last June, Liu had sought kickbacks from construction contractors and real estate developers for helping them win bids, the report said.
