New Delhi : An Indian parliamentary delegation led by Lok Speaker Meira Kumar arrived in Pakistan Tuesday.
The 10-member delegation also inlcudes Bharatiya Janata Party’s Shahnawaz Hussain and Tarun Vijay, Congress’ Madan Lal Sharma, Asom Gana Parishad’s Birendra Prasad Baishya, Communist Party of India-Marxist’s Sheikh Saidul Haque and Independent MP Inder Singh Namdhari.
Lok Sabha secretaryvgeneral T.K. Viswanathan is accompanying the delegation.
The delegation will meet Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, according to a statement by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The delegation is visiting Pakistan under bilateral exchange of parliamentary delegations.
“The visit is likely to further consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries,” the statement said.
During its visit, the delegation will hold discussions with Senate Chairman Farooq Hamid Naek, National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.
